INCLUSION STATMENT
I strive to create an environment of inclusion in my lab where students, researchers, and collaborators from diverse backgrounds can thrive. I feel that a key to success in science is productive mentoring and support at all career stages. No one should be discouraged from a career in science due to concerns about not fitting the traditional ‘academic’ mold or from feeling that they don’t belong. To this end, I aim to provide a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for my lab, as well as foster a culture where those in my lab embrace and carry these values forward. We aim to respect the differences of others, including the many collaborators we have around the world. Through these efforts, we hope to play a role in correcting historical opportunity imbalances whether in our own minds, through our actions, in STEM, and the broader global community we are a part of.
